RTX 2012: IT'S OVER!If you got that Teen Girl Squad reference, I love you.
This journal is a week late because right after RTX finished, I was off to San Diego for Comic Con for 6 days. I can say it was the most exhausting 2 weeks of my life. I was on my feet from 7 AM on Thursday, July 5 until Monday, July 16th. I think I slept for a total of 22 hours in the last 24 hours.
So yeah, RTX. What an experience. The months leading up to it were crazy, the 2 weeks before it were a blur, and the actual event was.. well.. ridiculous. What was a 4,000 person event seemed to be a 50,000 person event. We learned a lot for next year-- how to make things better, how to avoid some issues we had, and how to grow next year into an even more awesome time for everyone. It was so great getting to see so many old friends and new faces, and to hear about other people's experiences with the event. So many exhibitors gave us feedback saying how awesome our attendees were.. and all I could say was "yeah, the RT community.. they are the best people in the world". You all were so patient and kind, even though things weren't always perfect. I've never seen such a big group of people just..happy to be somewhere. Happy to meet others from the community and to experience this event we've been working on for so long.
BIG THANKS GO TO:- Our Guardians and Guardian Team Leaders. Thank you for your time, dedication, and energy. You all stepped up more than I could ever hope, and handled every situation so perfectly. We got so many compliments from both our Exhibitor Services team and Convention Center team. They asked if they could use you guys for every event they had. Thank you for taking everything that went wrong on Saturday and making it better for Sunday. I know that every year will be that much better with you guys on our team.
- Every single attendee-- so many of you came up to thank me for having a hand in RTX, and I said this every time: we do this for you. No matter how hard it is, how many sleepless nights I had, or stressful moments during the event, it's all worth it to hear how much fun you all had and how much you appreciated it. I also want to take this opportunity to apologize to any attendee I had to brush off during the weekend. As you may know, I was involved in most of the front-of-house operations of RTX, so I was constantly being pulled in 100 directions. This caused me to have to run all over the place, and at times I didn't have a moment to stop and talk to people. There's nothing I love more than meeting and hanging out with fans, and I felt terrible for having to walk away. Just know I love you all and I wish I could have spent more time meeting you guys.
- And last but not least, Gus. I don't think I could have done this event with anyone else. As crazy as things got, you stayed calm and kept me sane. You somehow managed to handle every issue right away even though you were just as busy as I was.
We've already started talking about 2013. I can't wait to see you all again!
Oh, and if you've written a journal or posted any youtube videos about the event, please link them here! I want to read/see them all!

Everyone was so helpful and just willing to go the extra mile. I've volunteered so many other places but this was the absolute best time I have ever had. The thing is, we just have such a pride in our community, we didn't want to let anyone down.
And that Grifball Messenger Bag? Awesome :)

And I'm madly in love with my messenger bag. I sometimes catch myself staring lovingly at it and just let out a gentle, dreamy sigh....
Thank you again Barb, can't wait to see you in two weeks!
Sounds like so much fun... I hope I can make it next year!
It was a blast. I love how most of us came in with pre-existing degree of commitment to the event. It's what made it special. I wish it was three days like last year. Already looking forward to next year now.
The "Legends of the RT Community" was one of my personal favs because I learned so much about others besides you and Luke's history.
Working on the SideQuest Teaser right now.
It was fantastic seeing you and everyone else at RTX, even though I got but a few seconds with most people. On the better side, I'll see you at RvBTO!
I spent most of the weekend with Fragger and Caleb and you can read about it there.
I unfortunately didn't go to RTX (although I've never even been to a gaming convention at all) but I appreciate the fact that you guys put the effort into live streaming as much as possible so that people like me at least got to experience some of it and that was awesome!
Thanks for all your hard work, Barb. The quality of the event speaks to your work more than any compliment I could give. Outstanding job!
Next year's goal: a little more sleep, a little more booze, and I won't loose my voice so early in the event.
