Birthday updateVery very fun night/day. Starting around noon, the computer club I am vice president of had a mini lan party just for members (as opposed to the school wide lan we hold each semester) and it was a lot of fun. Lots of TF2 was played which was good because I had forgotten how much fun it is to play with other people since I've been in such a solo mode due to Skyrim and many other games I've gotten off of Steam's winter sale... Debating starting up WoW again, or maybe join the Drunk Tanks and get into that Star Wars MMO... *hoping my self control can hold out so I don't get addicted to MMO's again*
Then I went on a double date with my girlfriend and my friend Alena (whose birthday it was also) and her boyfriend. She's one of my oldest friends so we always celebrate together and this being our first birthday night at the bar, it was good to have some time to chat before hand. (Though we both just turned 22, we threw a house party last year so our friends could come, we are older for our year in university/friend group.)
We headed out to one of my favorite bars, Shakespeares first and got there just after halftime of the Lions/Saints game, when the fourth quarter started and the Saints pulled way ahead I was secretly (due to being in Michigan surrounded by Lions fans) happy because the bar was really packed and it was hard to find anywhere to sit/stand with my group comfortably and I was waiting for the game to be over so the place would clear out.
Later on in the night we went to a bar Joel would love, called the Beer Exchange, named after the NYSE. Their attraction is they have tv's up all over the bar and each beer runs by on a stock ticker with a price determined by how well its selling that trading cycle. Trading cycles are 14 mins so not too long, and if a beer sells well the price goes up a quarter or two and vice versa for the next cycle. Every once in a while the market will crash and all beers will go to half price for the following cycle which happened and was really cool, got an expensive beer for the price of a bud light. :D
After all that fun, I had a friend take my girlfriend and I home safe. It was a great birthday :)
