Shattered hopes... So I was really excited about the new Spider-Man game- Shattered Dimensions. After spending some time with it last night, I admit I still think the concept is fantastic, but how do you screw up the simple fun of web-slinging after getting it right in so many other Spider-Man games? This game feels clunky and confusing when you're trying to navigate your web weaving; the whole pleasure of a Spider-Man game is swinging around on your webs, and this game almost turns that ability into a point-and-shoot gun system instead of a fluid locomotive action.
I still think the Spider-Man 2 (movie) game adaptation is the best Spider-Man game ever made. It really got the dynamics of web-slinging around the city, it FELT like you were really doing it.
Still, I do love Noir Spider-Man and 2099 Spider-Man. That alone might make me keep playing Shattered Dimensions, until the novelty wears off... or REACH releases.
