Featured!!In my Featured User stupor, I posted a big self-promoting journal entry, then updated my profile picture. But now the latter shows up as my "Latest Post", which accidentally bumped my big journal entry off, but now this should, I think....
Anyway, just click on my journal, I made a big post
:-DI'm not sure if it's a random rotation, or specifically picked each day, but this is my third time being Featured User I guess I must be kinda awesome?
This is actually a great time for a little more exposure for me. If you follow the Achievement Hunter community channel (http://www.youtube.com/AHCommunityVids) you'll notice I'm in three videos today (thanks Caleb!) Two are "Things to do in.... Minecraft" - I helped @DominicMarqu show off his Epic Troll Map and I helped @LordLethonai play Russian Roulette.
I also recorded a video with @RockinDumbas that'll be up soon showing off just a small part of his awesome Minecraft map designed specifically for AH Let's Plays. Hopefully they (we?) can figure out a better solution to submitting Xbox 360 Minecraft maps!
For anything else I do on the Internet, you can usually find your way from my own website, Kaisonic.net. It's kind of a homepage for my Twitter, YouTube, etc. And if you feel like connecting with me, my Xbox Live gamertag and Twitter handle are also just Kaisonic
If you feel so inclined to meet me in person, I'll be a Guardian at this year's RTX, helping out with Security. I'm quite large, but really just a giant teddy bear, so feel free to approach me!
I'd also like to point out the awesome group RT Community Shorts. If you're a filmmaker or lurk in the Filmmaking/Machinima forum (like I am/do) you should definitely join that group. We're planning on making live-action shorts, the first at RTX this year. I might not have a lot of time to help, being a Guardian, but hopefully I (and you!) can still be a part of it!
Additionally, I'm in between jobs right now (read: unemployed), so if you need some voice acting done, a machinima or gameplay video recorded, or just a co-commentator for an Achievement Hunter community video, let me know! I've got some kick-ass equipment and plenty of free time
Welp, that's it for me! If you like cool videos and/or marching bands, you should definitely check this video out. Or, if you just want to see me and a friend rant out about Halo, check out this video.

AHWUThat was totally me in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in today's AHWU, #140. I'm glad I was finally somewhere cool enough to make an AHWU intro.
A ConfessionSometimes I feel really disconnected from the RT community, mainly because I'm so busy with my own life that I don't have time to be here socializing and whatnot.
But I'll be at RTX this weekend First trip to Austin. Actually first trip west of probably Illinois or so.
So hopefully that disconnect will fade away If you want to say hey, I'll be the huge dude with a tiny camcorder wearing either Tucker's Bow Chicka Bow Wow shirt, or my own Kaisonic Productions grey polo. Or I might bring my big camera just to look more official. Haven't decided yet xD
So I got mine today, and it's pretty cool. Works perfectly, very convenient in the whole no-PC-needed thing. However, my number 1 is video/audio quality and the HD-PVR simply trumps the Game Capture HD in this category. The latter, at the highest setting, records a constant 12.0 Mbps and 128 kbps MP3 audio (at 720p). The HD-PVR can record up to a variable 13.5 Mbps and 384 kbps Dolby Digital audio (when using S/PDIF), and MediaInfo reports that the bitrate maxes out at 20 Mbps. The variable vs constant bitrate is also heavily reflected in file size - I recorded the same 2:30 clip from Halo 3 and got 225 MB from the Game Capture HD and only 175 MB from the HD-PVR. So for me, I'm going to stay tied down to my PC for the better quality.
But the Game Capture HD definitely has good quality for anyone looking for a relatively cheap HD capture solution.
That said, Overstock doesn't allow returns, so if anyone wants to buy mine off me, I'll take the $130 I paid for it
Edit: Here's a couple screencaps showing the real differences in bitrates and constant/variable in a high-motion environment:
Whoa!Seven years! That's crazy! Even crazier? It still says 6 years on the left there. But I definitely signed up 10/24/04. That's 7 years right? I mean, I know I haven't been in a math class in a LONG while, but I'm pretty sure I'm getting that right...
Anyway, I wanted to commemorate it with an epic video. If you didn't know, I do videography for my old high school band, the Kenton Ridge Marching Cougar Band in Springfield, OH (see krhscougarband.org and krdvds.org) . Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 2012, here we come!
I had a brilliant idea during our band show on Saturday, and it has thus resulted in a very epic video. Unfortunately, there were some errors in the 90-minute encode, and I'm not happy with the framerate, so I've got some more editing to do before I can upload it. But when I do, I'll link it here, and hopefully you will be amazed.
Once Upon A Time...... in 2004... I got an Xbox and Halo 2. And a 2-month free pass to Xbox Live. It was basically my first exposure to online gaming, besides maybe Age of Empires II on the PC, or the occasional Half-Life Deathmatch.
So what to choose for my gamertag? Kaisonic of course! But the two months passed, and I had no money.... so I got another free 2-month! This time, PrivateTucker25... for obvious reasons. Those two months passed, and I got another free 2-month. This time, LaverniusTucker, again for obvious reasons. But when those two months passed, I had no more free 2-months.... so I begged my mom to buy it for me.
And here I am, 5 years later of using LaverniusTucker, when I see the post by MajorNelson that they're resurrecting old gamertags. Excited, I check if Kaisonic is available. No.....
But I checked again today, and it's available! Should I change it so one of my major online identities finally matches my online alias?
...FUCK YEAH!!
So my gamertag is now Kaisonic. Now I just have to find everywhere that information exists and change it....
