So kickstarter is an ass. I've been busy with college, so I haven't posted on here directly, just lurking and enjoying the wonderful RT community and the for better or worse site updates.

Kickstarter is supposed to help people get funding for projects, after the company takes 5% of whatever gets funded, and they go through amazon. Amazon takes another percentage for their own profits. So I will not be using them. Also, they require a drivers license number, and I do not have one. Even at 20 years old, I do not have a license yet...
SO.
The plan was at the beginning of summer for me (June 6th) I would start work on building an aquaponics system. Aquaponics is a closed system of aquatic life (usually fish such as tilapia or perch) and plants- namely vegetables and some fruits. It would be on going so I could learn a few things; how to actually grow things, programming, and applying engineering skills to create the system.

I'll be building a small sized aquaponic set up in a garage. It will be my first foray into aquaponics, and farming in general. I would like to learn how to grow vegetables and plants, learn how dense the plants can grow together while still producing full fruit, and I would learn how to control and program robots.

My first phase will be building the basic aquaponic system, cycle the system and make sure the environmental factors are within tolerance so nothing dies.
Second phase I will build and program a micro computer to control the environment; ph of the water, temperatures, feeding the fish, a back up pump in case power goes out.
The last phase I wish to build and figure out how to program a robotic arm to pick fruit and vegetables automatically when they are ripe.
If I am able to complete this project I hope to:

Learn the best environment to produce the most aggressive, natural growth in a variety of fruits and vegetables (list of plants I wish to try growing below)
Create a closed system of growing produce to bring into large populated areas to inevitably bring down the price of produce to a few cents per pound (hopefully less than a quarter per pound if not less). The only long term cost of production will be the electric bill, which can be downsized with green tech.
Teach myself electronics and better management.
Vegetables I wish to grow; lettuce, choy, brocolli, carrots, potatoes, onion, peppers, rhubarb, celery, peas, eggplant, and cucumber.

Fruits; strawberries, mango, limes, bananas, pineapples, tomatoes, watermelon, sugarcane, and kiwi.

Seasonings; dill, parsley, basil, chives, garlic, ginger, sage, vanilla.

My Inspiration;

In high school psychology, we went over Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. (Physiological- breathing, food, shelter... Safety- security of body, employment, health... Love/ Belonging - family, friendship, intimacy... Esteem - confidence, achievement... Self- Actualization - morality, creativity, spontaneity, problem solving, lack of prejudice, acceptance of facts...)

I feel if we could solve the triangle, and give everyone access to everything at affordable prices, we can reach a utopian society. I wish to start the process from the bottom and work up- organic food for cents rather than dollars. Shelter for tens of dollars a month/ free rather than hundreds a month. Fresh water that's not over priced tap water. Established communities where everyone is appreciated. Education that promotes self actualization rather than regurgitating facts, and promotes a society of longing for enlightenment rather than power over others.

Being able to build a small system in a garage will be a very useful step towards my goal of feeding everyone for pennies.

Please, Donate. Every little helps my friends. After donating, the link to a tumblr should pop up, I'll be updating how it goes there first, then copy and paste it here if you guys want.

Also, my goal is about $3,000.00 large plastic containers and metal is not cheap surprisingly...

Meh Update.I don't have much going on in my life but college right now. there's not much to do besides get over charged for basic schooling, so i don't have much to contribute to this website anymore... obviously. Hence my invisibleness.
I've gottten sucked into Minecraft with my roommate. Tons of mods, and ideas, it's rather entertaining, and cheap- so there's no point in getting a cracked version. 15 Euro ain't bad for pretty great open ended game... er that's pretty much it for now...

MIAI've gone through my watchlist (because very few are doing anything anymore) and half the people I'm watching, their accounts are deleted, the other third, they left in anger, one guy is in jail, another guy probably committed suicide, it's depressing how much this place has changed in so little time (I've been gone for awhile, a little includes 2 years XD)
I hate change. I don't care to talk in forums much anymore, and I don't have time to participate in games because of college work. I just hope I get a taste for talking more in the forums once again like in the good ol' days 4 years ago when I first joined....

I just realized I placebo-ed RT with Facebook. I feel so dirty. but i do talk to more people on FB than here... :(

Been awhileHaha I changed my relationship status twice on bullshit facebook before I've made a new journal here... I feel so dirty. So it's been about 3 months that I can remember.
Here's what I've been up to:
Started and failed a relationship. (she didn't want long distance, so it's her fault.) :(
At University. Washington, in a tiny town that shall not be named because I'm paranoid.
On that note, slowly studying to be a mechanical engineer.
For Xmas, my gift is to go get my license.. down in Virginia... (living overseas, I wasn't allowed to drive without 3 months of driver school in a foreign language I don't know that costs 300 Euros).
If I do get my drivers license, I'll get my motorcycle permit, then this Spring break, I will do the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's class (3 days of awesome) that will ultimately lower my insurance bill from 300- something to 100- something. for one payment of 300, (for the class) to save a monthly 200... I think yes! Plus I won't have to do the state's bogus 4 driving skill tests. I can instantly get my motorcycle license after the course.
And that's my life for the next year. Interspersed with RT of course. :D

Quick noteIs it just me or is RvB becoming another animated show? High quality, and enjoyable, but... isn't it a bit like cheating to use so much CGI?

LifeMeh, more all two users still following. My guess it's only Thijsbos and Megafire at this point...
I got accepted into Walla Walla. A highly religiously weird college. I'm gunna debate with a few officials to see if I can get out of the 'mandetory' services (i.e Bullshit church services/ brainwashing sessions). It's cheap. the religion side will keep me off drugs as i chill in the states, and it's easy as hell to get a school related job to help pay off the costs, and the program for engineering helps the individual learn the craft, and lastly it's a small campus. I like small. It contrasts nicely with all the big things in my life. Big trucks. Big bombs, big guns, big balls. Military life is interesting, lets try small town life for college, eh?

So I'm trying to figure out how to make cash. I'm on this site Lockerz for free Paypal cash. Want an invite? It's legit, you make PTZ (points, or 'Pointz') to trade in for free stuff. it costs nothing. but if you don't use your points in a year, they take em away. but your still on the site. Basically: use your points.
I'm looking at how to do Paypal. it's free once I move back State side.
It'll be fun trying out the stock market as well, which is basically why I'm doing Lockerz. Free money from Lockerz into an account to grow in the stock market. We're doing this project with Personal Finances Class, where we watch the real stock market. I'm doing rather wll. Only thing is, we were given 100,000 fake dollars. I need 100,000 real dollars... or it'll be slow. So slow it is. Only choice I have other than doing nothing. Then I plan on also doing a few Certificate of Deposites. Basically high interest rate on money for 1-5 years on money I can't touch. But there are like $100 min. so.... I need to make cash to put away for long periods of time to safely increase my wallet. FUN! Hows your life?
*Does not include asking Thijsbos, I read his Journals. As well as Megafire... lol
Fun fact I watch on this site: DiMono, Gus, Burnie, Griffon, megafire, Thijsbos, and this guy who use to be funny as hell, but hasn't posted anything since the Stock Market Crash a year or two back....

MehStarting to get sick of Halo. It's blasphemous, I know. but.. its just how I feel. I'm not saying Bungie is milking the franchise like so many nay sayers (who end up buying in anyways), I'm just bored of the same armour, same enemies, same style graphics. and plot lines that we've read in the books. Some may enjoy playing through a book they've read. I don't and thats just me.

Oh well. I just wish I had the money and time to invest in gaming again. Personally, I'm waiting like hell For Fallout Vegas. I LOVED Fallout 3. A style of game play I've never felt or experienced before. i love the chats with people cuz you can do diffrent things (though, some conv. are pointless and time consuming) but the feeling of depth is orgasmic. The graphics, amazing. Story plot. Cliche, but freash in a I-wanna-know-WTF-happens-next. And the 1960's with future shit is cool as well... and the bakcstory of the Brotherhood, Mutants, everythinhg really. I want a fucking book that has everything in it. but they don't. which makes me want the game even more! haha. I love it.

Xmas break I'll be with my sis in the states, with no computers or internets.
So... Have a happy Christmas!
Ciao,
Dan
