The United Soviet States of Red vs. Blue
Tired of government charging you hard earned Rubles for goods that should be free? Then join the revolution! Is it a web cult? Is it a gaming clan? Is it a costume party? No! IT'S ALL THREE! Become a fan on Facebook
Once upon a time, a man called CaptZodiac went to hospital for a shoulder operation. While there, he was prescribed morphine for the pain. The doses were fairly high. They then allowed him to use the internet. He wrote a partly-coherent journal expressing his concern that everyone working in the hospital was a KGB agent trying to find a way to kill him. (This was at the time of the Polonium 210 incident) When he returned to the internet, still on morphine but at home, Jaxom_Rahl declared that everyone who participated in the "Spam Journal" should set their avatar to a Soviet flag and change their title to "Comrade " and their name. Even CaptZodiac joined in as "ComradeCappy" and so was born the United Soviet States of Red versus Blue - yes, we know that's not what the second S was, but it works better. Almost immediately, others seeing the increasing number of Soviet flags started a counter-trend - the NATO of Blue versus Red. Both groups saw a huge surge in members during some initial hostility, before we settled into a nearly-as-hilarious replica of the very concept that spawned the Roosterteeth community. We now play Halo with them...
Do you play Halo Reach, Gears of War 3 or Ace Combat 6? If so, you're welcome to join the USSRvB's great online military, where we regularly train and/or pwn n00bs! Hop into the People's Military Command thread (also known as where we talk about gaming) for the schedule and to sign up!
The USSRvB is the home of the Vodka Vat, a slight variation on the original Drunk Tank which, back in the day, was in text form and posted on the site news. We didn't think it deserved to die, so we carry the torch. It's currently recruiting for new members - and you can expect another article this Tuesday! |
