Well, now I have to buy Sims 2A friend of mine (who I just got hooked onto RvB btw), had Sims 2, and I was watching him play it. Well, anyways, we got bored, he deicded to go check out the RvB site to download some of the 2nd season Eps he hadn't seen yet, and we came arcoss the post about thestrangerhood.com, and we watched the trailer....

to finish up this almost competely pointless post, I now find myself wanting to buy Sims 2. I watched my friend played and thought it was cool, but now.. Now I have to have it. Thanks Rooster Teeth Crew, you guys just helped EA with another purchase!

:)

I want to buy it too, but I am poor and I rarely buy any games anymore. The only games I play now are games I downloaded for free from the-underdogs.org.

Yeah, after watching the SH Trailer, its made me want to buy Sims 2 just for the hell of getting to muck around with it all. Not too mention simulate a few familes and do wreak havoc upon them. :D

I hardly buy games either i am a bit of the broke side.
i played sims on xbox and thought it was shit, my friend has sims 2 he says it eats your hard drive and you waste to much time playing it.
And yet that makes me want to get it More... unless it eats more than that little 1.5gbs i have left on my hard drive then i upgrade from 20 gbs to 120 :)

The Rooster Teeth folks seem to be good at that. They managed to convince me to get Halo. And the XBox to play it on.

I'll be picking up Sims 2 tomorrow and all i've seen is the Strangerhood trailer.

Sims 2 is really worth it. I didn't care much for the original, but what I didn't like in the first is generally fixed in the new one. There's finally a "point" to playing the game since they also have wants and aspirations.

Sims 2 Hint: Make sure to keep your aspiration level high and get as many points as you can. The Elixir of Life is indispensable if you want to keep playing with your Sim - otherwise they'll grow old and die on you.

Not meaning to do a nyer nyer here, but thats not actually true. You can use the cheat 'aging off' and they'll never die.

Anyway Sims 2 rocks. I'm completely hooked on it, but that isn't really a good thing. My REAL life is slowly draining away.

Ok, fine. If you don't cheat, that's the only way to not die. I prefer not to enable the cheats. I mean, come on, if you have to cheat to succeed in Sims 2 there's something seriously wrong with you. :)

Game eats up 3 gigs. Comes on 4 CD-Roms and the recommended ram is like 256 or something I don't remember the specs.

I have it though, and uninstalled and deleted all my old sims content because now I have this I won't feel the need to play the original anymore lol.

I got the game before I found out about the strangerhood. It is such a great game and it does eat away at your soul and social life. So be careful.

Warning: Sims 2 is as addictive as Halo...just be prepared (and no, I'm not a boy scout).

Agreed! It's probably the 2nd most addictive game I've played in the last couple of years. Especially since my wife has a Sim in the same town as mine. It's fun to have them interact.

I haven't played it (or its predecessor), but it certainly does look interesting. I just attended a presentation by some EA people about the dev process -- looks like they had fun making it, too.

Yeah I agree, I don't like to cheat either, on any game, unless I absolutely have to. I was just pointing out that you can do it that way. What's the point of playing Sims 2 if they don't die anyway, it would just end up too repetitive like the first game, although that was after a few years :)

Well, the only reason I'm not letting my Sim die off yet is because he's a Knowledge aspiration and I want to get his skills at 100% before I let him settle down and start a family. He's having too much fun "getting around" in his neighborhood for me to force him to marry and settle down just yet. :) It'll be neat to see if he ends up wanting my wife's Sim or another...

Cool, its great how much you can mess about with these little people, isn't it? Will Wright is indeed a genious, and a very rich one at that :)

I was a huge fan of the original SIMS game, but after the 4th expansion pack, stopped playing it. When I saw about THE SIMS 2, I was excited but wasn't sure if I should buy it. But after the preview for The Strangerhood...boy oh boy...I need this game now! Man, I can't wait till the first episode!

There is also a DVD-ROM edition that comes with an extra bonus disc that has some video tips on how to use the in-game movie making tools as well as some behind-the-scenes stuff. If you have a DVD-ROM drive, it'll save you some disc swaps. The movie making section on the disc is fairly good, although not really technical enough for my tastes...

Whoa, That is almost cool. Personally i think the Sims is one of the dumbest games ever, but perhaps the guys at RT can make it work. I certianly have no fantasy to buy the Sims 2

I've had The Sims 2 for awhile now....well, a few weeks, and I think it's going to be very interesting to see how they're going to pull this off, wouldn't you agree?

I too have put an unhealthy amount of time into it but I have only played about 2 weeks in sim time. I have a neighbourhood of 11 houses and play a day with one house and then move onto the next (you might call it a rotation system :) ) , so although I've put in so much of my time, my sims have hardly got any older! I have a feeling I'm going to get my money's worth out of this game.
