Are You a Volunteer?Hey guys! I thought this would be a fun way to meet some of the people who were picked as volunteers for RTX 2012. I'm sure Barbara and Gus have ice breakers or stuff planned but it'd be nice to get to know some of y'all before all of that. So, if you are a volunteer, post your name, ...
Are You a Volunteer?Hey guys! I thought this would be a fun way to meet some of the people who were picked as volunteers for RTX 2012. I'm sure Barbara and Gus have ice breakers or stuff planned but it'd be nice to get to know some of y'all before all of that. So, if you are a volunteer, post your name, age, where you're from, and anything cool about you. Can't wait to meet you guys!

Yes! I'm here too! Freelancer Pride!!! :pounds chest:
I think you left a bruise.
Name:Danielle Ellis (but usually go by Danni)
Age: 34
Location: Centreville, VA (suburb of Washington, DC)
Nothing cool, but I do have a few odd facts: I started playing the piano when I was 4 years old, I was one of the lucky 500ish people who attended RTX last year, and I have a degree in Interior Design, but have spent the majority of my professional life working in the Accounting/Finance department.
Can't wait to work with all of you in July!!!
I'm down.
Hey John, are you a Bulls fan? What do you think of their chances in the playoffs this year?
I don't think they can win a title, but that's less a condemnation of Chicago and more a testament to Miami/OKC. I also think they'll probably end up playing the Knicks in the first round (the 2-7 matchup) and I don't think that they can match up with Tyson Chandler AND Carmelo Anthony, for Joakim Noah is but one man.
Then again, I'm sitting here in my underwear eating Nutella with my hands at 10 in the morning. There is a reason I am not an NBA GM.
Haha fair enough. Bulls will go as far as Rose takes them, I think. Which will be up until whenever the play the Heat.
mmmm...nutella
Did that perk up anybody's ears? Over in the PAX Enforcer community, we sometimes arrange for meet ups and trade offs of certain hard to find, geographically local goods. We usually do a beer exchange and a hot sauce exchange. The process is simple:
Say 5 people really like hot sauce, or chocolate, or something random, small, and easily stowable in check in luggage. Each of the Hot-Sauce Team A members brings 4 bottles of a locally brewed rocket sauce, and then when all 5 people get together, they all pass out a bottle to every other team member. So you end up with 5 people, each of whom now have 4 new hot sauces that they've never tried before, or won't be likely to find in their own area. It generally helps to do in teams of 4-5, so that nobody is stuck buying a ton of anything. It's a great way to trade new tastes, and an even more fun way to meet other people with similar obsessions.
For the 21 and over group, this is very fun to do with beer. I highly recommend using cut down poster tubes and bubble wrap to store your bottles in, and I don't recommend home brew unless it's fully, 100% aged. Green bottles of home brew have been known to explode in luggage, and in these paranoid times, that can lead to a long night in a small dark room with a bunch of hyped up FBI wannabes.
So if anybody in the Guardians is interested in doing a hot sauce, beer, cheese, or chocolate exchange group, I'd be happy to help coordinate such an event.
A beer exchange sounds like a blast! Perhaps this should be organized in the RTX 2012 Guardians group?
Sounds good to me. I just haven't posted it to there since I didn't know if that was an official exchange only group or what.
Sounds like a plan
As long as the under 21 guardians can swap something like soda
That's where the hot sauce, chocolate, etc comes in. Local root beers are a GREAT alternative, since they tend to be microbrewed almost as often as hops and malt beer.
I'm not really sure how the group is supposed to be used. It seems like the easiest way to reach JUST Guardians.
In reply to BaghdadBean, #224:
Root beer? Psh. I only drink the hard stuff.
Like sasparilla.
I'd be happy to manage the event for the under 21 crowd if you want to do the over 21. Would that be easier?
Let's move our interaction there!
I don't think I got this.
Says you're already a member..
It seems the internet has fooled me once again.
This isn't over internet. Not by a long shot.
Hey barb, I didn't get an invite to the group

At this point in time, no. The time has passed for Guardian applications.
