California RTX'ers?Hey all! I was just curious how many people from Cali will (or want to) attend. I know it'd be awesome to meet some fellow Californians who love everything RT as much as I do! I figure this would be a pretty cool place to connect and just meet fellow community members. Post anything you like he...

I just checked again, called too. Even the "phone lady" was like, "WTF"
It was 10hrs before, now it's 33hrs, I have no clue how it changed. But you gatta agree that you can do Cali for Austin on a bike in 33hrs... makes no sense.

10 hours would average like 130 mph. I really want bullet trains in the US. Would be so awesome. I think trains legally can't go over like 70-80 mph. Non stop the train should get there in like 18 hours. If my terrible math is right, the train spends almost as much time sitting still as it does moving.

I'm going. I'm from Kerman. That's a small city in the San Joaquin Valley.

And it's just as long for you to get to Erick Schat's Bakkery in Bishop as it does from the San Fernando Valley? I feel for you man.

I'm actually flying, but that surf thing has got me interested (I've never surfed, though). I am bringing a guest (I introduced him to RvB and got him hooked), so flying might be a bit more... logical.

Yeah me and a buddy are driving from Fresno which is right next to Kerman but then again we like to live on the un-logical side of life

Have fun looking at this for countless hours!

Out on the open road!

I recommend listening to the entire RT podcast library once a day during the trip.

Just kidding. You'd make it through a third of them over the whole trip. You can only listen to Highway Star so many times.

Dude, I love going to Fresno. All the good shops and theaters are there. Luckily, Kerman is getting a Super Walmart, so I wont have to go to Fresno to get my video games.
It is really weird to talk to someone on a RT website who knows the city Kerman.

That's always a good time explaining to people what a sub-city in the LA area is.

"I'm from Northridge, a city in the San Fernando Valley in California."
"..."
"It's part of Los Angeles."
"OOOOHHH! I know that place. Hollywood right?"
"Well not exactly, Hollywood and Northridge are districts of Los Angeles but they're really big enough to be their own cities."
"So that fancy place Beverly Hills where all the movie stars live is actually in Los Angeles?"
"Well Beverly Hills is actually it's own city, but it's surrounded on all sides by Los Angeles. So geographically it's in Los Angeles, but not a part of it. Except for their post office which for some reason is part of Los Angeles."

At this point the person usually stabs me and then walks away confused.

You could not have put in any better...It is quite hilarious to watch people's reactions to this information. Apparently the word 'county' is really one giant city, and all of the 'sub-cities' are just nonsense, because the only important areas in California are LA, Orange County, San Diego, and the rest are nonexistent xD Oh yeah, Sacramento is somewhere in there...

Yeah, I live in Northern California, and some people are like "Northern California? So you live next to Sacramento?" So then I have to explain to them that Sacramento is in Central California and their is about 400 miles between Sacramento and Oregon, and that's were I live. And then try explaining that to people overseas who know a little US geology, but not enough to know what Oregon is located or even what Oregon even is.

People IN California do not understand how much land there is above Sacramento. When I tell people it takes me 9 1/2 hours to get to my Aunt's house (Northern California), they think it would take me to Oregon. Some people are so clueless sometimes...
Isn't it funny how non-California residents think that we refer to out own state as 'Cali'? I never hear people refer to our state as that hah.

Come to think of it yeah, never really hear Californians call it Cali. I don't think I've ever typed Cali, it's always CA. Then again I know people who just say LA all the time and never even say California. I hear they have that problem in New York.

Haha well believe it or not back in high school my class mates would sometimes say Cali. I went to one of those schools were most of the guys idolized gang banggers, and I guess they thought saying "cali" made them seem more gangster.

The hardest part about moving to Austin.

I miss you so, so much. Going from at least twice a week to quitting cold turkey has been tough, but I find ways to cope.
