So...anybody hoping the 'mystery return' man for January 2nd. Is Y2J? He's been actively denying it, and the promos seem more on the eerie side, for like the Undertaker or something (Kane already has is own return promos), but everything I've read says it's Jericho.
MondaY 2 January, was the connection I saw somebody put up, which is kind of cool. But is he coming back for a WM match with Punk? I'd be allright with that. Just worry about guys getting lost in the shuffle again, like Ziggler.
I was on a lull for a few years and hadn't watched. Last time I watched WWE was Wrestlemania 23. I just recently got into TNA Impact, but came back to WWE and have been watching for a few months.
It's still great, but not NEARLY as great as it was 10 years ago.
On topic of this thread though, I would LOVE if Jericho came back. I think he's an awesome wrestler, and an even better speaker with the mic.
How good Jericho will be will partly be determined by how well he's written. I really wasn't very impressed with most of what they had him doing after his first return. They have this great habit of wasting talent over there.
These are just some of the names from Big Time Wrestling. BTW had an arena set up in my neighborhood in an old Arlan's department store. Sure, we knew it was fake, but there was always hope that someone would really get pissed and a real fight would break out.
I highly doubt it's Jericho. He was extremely unhappy with his character last time he came back. WWE writers aren't known for making drastic changes.
I used to be a huge fan of wrestling but stopped watching 5 years ago or so. The wrestling was terrible for the most part, the storylines were cliche even by WWE standards and the roster was loosing huge stars left and right. I routinely said the only thing that had a chance of getting me back into it was if The Rock returned. A friend and I went to see Survivor Series and even in a tag team match The Rock still electrified.
The problem with WWE is that all the things that made it entertaining years ago have been removed under the guise of being family friendly and a small portion because of talent safety. Effectively now its just so predictable that its a chore to sit through.
Also the idea of only having titles change hands at Pay-per-views is downright insulting, as it not only generates even less interest and excitement for the weekly shows but it also shows they only care about our money. I get that it is a business but if I don't get excited at your weekly show, what makes you think I want to shell over $30+ dollars at the end of the month?
They also have all but made a joke of tag team and women's wrestling. not enough screen time or competitors to even warrant having the divisions anymore.
I could go on, but who wants to read a page long post?
All in all TNA is the better show for me right now because it still has a lot of the things that WWE doesn't. It's more exciting and there is enough interesting story and variety for me not to get bored.
My god, it is like you are reading my mind. Key example of familyfication. John Cena. "Your finishing move is called the F-U? Too edgy, it is now the attitude adjustment. Yay we are all 10 years old!" And Tag Teams? They don't even exist any more.
I pretty much lost faith in WWE's "family friend'y" marketing when this happened. Scroll to 3:06 and see how Cena spraypaints "JBL is poopy" on his limousine.
I get the family friendly attitude of late with the WWE... ok... I don't. But they want to be PG? fine. But don't treat the fans like a bunch of idiotic 9 year olds.
Disagree. The problem is the lack of decent storylines. Wrestling didn't become good because Austin was beer swilling and swearing, it's because that's what the people wanted. The R rated stuff was already getting pretty lame by the end of the era. It's just that now, when storylines are lame, they seem lame because they are PG, not because that the angle was stupid to begin with.
And while the occasional title changing hands on TV is acceptable, and sometimes necessary, sorry, but I think it's insulting when they don't occur on PPV. You are convincing people to shell out $60 for those things, the least you could do was reward them by letting them see the title changes, and not giving them away from free.
Tag team division is a joke, but they have plenty of guys if they cared. Women's division is a joke, but there's barely any decent wrestlers there to matter.
TNA has no idea what it's doing. They hot shot belts from one guy to the next. And guys switch allegiances more often than trunks. Seriously, how many guys in the last year have switched face/heel? Oh, and Garrett Bischoff, that's about all I need to say.
I've been playing WWE '12, and HHH even makes a crack about wishing they weren't PG in the game. Also, it's sad that the game gives people more character development than RAW does.
Dear Saint Mick, all I want for Christmas is some character development for the Miz and Dolph Ziggler.
Yeah, but i won't keep my hopes up. I doubt we'll see him setting people on fire again or some of the other story-lines hes had before given the PG nature of the show. That being said, we will see.
Also 15 minutes of air time wasted on Micheal Cole and JR rapping at the very start of the show. Makes me wonder why I didn't stop watching there.
I liked it too, but that thing looked way to thick to ever have it make sense to punch him, and I'm guessing protective masks have a limit to how powerful they can look. I assume they had him have two on to tease if he was going to have a mask at all.
Yeah, it did look like it was gonna slip when he did the whole ring pyro thing. And I'd also guess he had to be careful taking it off, because I doubt that's his actual hair. He's only been gone a couple of months.
Along with some crappy video effects to make it seem to the home audience that he was the most hideous, disfigured man ever to walk the planet. WWE's crowning moment of "I don't respect the audience" right there.
So...TLC had Zack Ryder winning the U.S. title, Big Show winning WHC, only to have Daniel Bryan cash in MITB on him, and he's the new WHC. Here's hoping he at least gets somewhat of a run with the title, and not just losing it at Royal Rumble. It is interesting to have the two world champions currently being Punk and Bryan, though.

Well on the original mask wasn't the hair actually sewn into the mask?

I honestly cannot stand Daniel Bryan . And how he screwed Big Show was predictable, but definitely sucked.
I loved watching the main event though. I thought the tripple-threat TLC match was awesome.
