The death of my poor Grand Prix. Not really that awful, but it did "total" the car, and the insurance company gave me about $1500 more than it was worth. So I bought an Audi.

Some big lumbering SUV ran into my car, when it was parked, in my driveway, which is 400 feet long...

I didn't even know this person

I'd post a pic, but it's pretty much the same as that pontiac above, only about 2 inches higher and did not involve the headlights at all.

other than that, never gotten into in accident, and never put my car in a ditch

*knocks on wood*

drove over a rock and broke my flex pipe. Annoying, but not bad. $200 US for the fix and install.

Well I have had a number of accidents.

No pictures of this one, but I flipped a 1996 Chevy Astro van on the way to school one icy morning. I live in a very country setting and we don't have a large number of salt trucks so most of the lesser roads don't get salted very quickly. I came up over a hill that had a slight right hand curve to it and my back end started to slide. Being as inexperienced as I was I tried to use corrective steering but over did it and ended up turning sideways (now facing the left side of the road instead of the right like I had been) and ended up driving into a ditch where the van dug in and it rolled 360 degrees. I walked the mile and a half back home, told my mom what had happened.. got a shower and then went back out, dealt with the police (I was cited for failure to control my vehicle) and then went to school.

My next accident I was in my dad's 1998 Chevy S-10 about a year ago. I was on my way to a friends house going down the highway. There is a section of the highway that has about 5 bridges/overpasses in a short distance and as night was falling and temperatures dropped they all got glazed over with ice. I had crossed the first overpass and was on the second when the car 2 cars in front of me started to fishtail, the car directly in front of me slammed on her brakes and ended up spinning. This forced me to either try and swerve on the icy bridge and hope I could regain control or try to brake without losing control. I chose to brake and the truck slid and ended up turning 90 degrees to the right. Corrective steering did absolutely nothing and I hit a guard rail with the front of the truck which cause the truck to turn another 90 degrees to the right so that I was now facing oncoming traffic in the right shoulder of the highway. I got out and got behind the guard rail to inspect the damage when someone in a black Ford Fusion came flying through, out of control and he slammed into the truck sending it about 60 yards further down the highway. The Fusion was really messed up and the guy had knocked himself unconscious. I had intended to just go on my merry way as the damage I had done didn't seem that bad. But when this guy came through I called 911 for him and then I had to wait for the Police as my dad's truck was totaled. The officer that I talked to and gave me a ride home said that in all there were 17 vehicles involved in that accident on the bridge... It was very icy.
These are my crappy cell phone pictures from that scene:

And my dad's truck the next morning:

Where it had slid along the guard rail.

And last, most recently, while driving the truck that my dad got to replace the truck I totaled on the bridge the passenger side front wheel fell off.. Not sure what caused it, it wasn't making any weird noises or anything. My dad said that it was but then it stopped and he never felt that he needed to have it checked out.

The unfortunate death of my first Subaru

What really sucks is that I had just spend a ton of money for a new transmission (5-speed) one month before. I'm 99% sure if that wreck hadn't happened, I would still have the car today...it was just that awesome.

I wasn't driving when this happened. One of the mechanics was.

On the dash, the line that's supposed to show what gear it's in, isn't quite center. They thought it was in neutral or something other than drive. It wasn't.

TruckTruck vs Window

TruckTruck wins!

That's not a pic from right after. I didn't get one. All that happened to TruckTruck was the grill was kinda cracked. Shop paid for the repairs and all so it's all good.

Very lolz worthy. My dad backed our old Mazda into my truck, before it was my truck. Didn't do a thing to the truck, but completely destroyed the back end of said Mazda.

It was either totaled and he got a new one, or it was fixed, I don't remember which.

It's a brain ninja move. Good to know it worked. Also, I can't upload any more pics from my roommate and my epic snow day adventure. And his pic doesn't have me in it. :p

I jumped a Nissan X-Trail into a field because my friend's idiot brother decided not to tell me this upcoming corner on the dirt road we were on was at a 90 degree angle. Was in my friend's dad's Holden Rodeo when he went off going around the same corner coming the other way straight into a barbed wire fence. Was in my friends Hilux when he was doing fishtails down a dirt road and put it into a ditch. Saw my friend try and drift his Commodore around a garden that we were drifting around and the wheels gripped and he drove into a tree AND last but not least I was driving my mum's Nissan Navara and had an idiotic soccer mum in a Landcruiser merge into my lane hit my front guard and push me into shrubs that were dividing the oncoming lanes, then she drove off and got chased down by my friend who was following me and came back claiming it was my fault and made a statement to the police that I tried to go up inside her as she was merging (something I wouldn't even try in my V8 5 series) and the police believed her and not me and about 5 other people and my insurance had to pay for the damage to not only my mum's car but her's as well.

- That isn't right, it was obviously her fault. Are you taking it any further?

I complained to the Senior Sargent and he said "I stick behind my constable's evaluation of the situation" I said "So one total bullshit statement trumps 5 correct ones?" and his reply was "Son with your record (a whole 2 speeding tickets) and those people who made the statements being your friends all with bad records and one being your frilly little girlfriend with a worse record then yours if you take this to court you will be wasting your time because the judge will just look at it as them trying to protect their friend" so I didn't bother.

I am sorry to read that. Does this mean that your insurance premium goes up?

My Mum's probably will since it's her insurance. I insure my car with a different company so mine probably won't.

I am looking forwards to my 25th birthday as it'll mean my driving insurance premium goes down.

not mine, but i saw what looked like the results of a head on involving a tuned (wasn't flashy, but it definitely wasn't a sleeper) 240sx and a toyota corrola. both front ends were completely smashed. i would hate to be the owner of that 240, it looked like he put some work into it... then again i would hate to be the owner, of the toyota, on the receiving end of the 240 owners wrath.

Any more info than that the wreck "looked like" a head-on crash? Cause you make no indication of apparent fault, so it might very well be the 240 owner fearing the Toyota owner's wrath...

judging by the angle of the crunched front end, the toyota was making a left turn. too much traffic in the intersection though, couldn't see skid marks. both were probably trying to run a yellow, nissan straight, toyota left turn. thats the only reason i could think of something like this happening.

Both had green and Toyota was turning left. Toyota turned left in front of 240 either because he thought he could make it or didn't see the 240.

240 ran a red or yellow and Toyota was turning left.

That's all I got.

Back when I was still having brake problems, I was driving in the right lane, and someone was on my left. I was behind a slow driver, about 350 feet away. I attempted to speed up quickly and get in the left lane and pass him, since the driver to my left was going slower than I was. Of course, as soon as the driver on the left heard my truck speed up, he thought I was racing and sped up hard too. So, I didn't get my opening, and had to back off, perfect time for the slow driver ahead of me to mash the brakes. I braked hard, and the wheels locked up... I slid closer and closer and decided I had to turn to avoid hitting the car. So, instead I hit the curb with both passenger side wheels, destroyed the tire in the front and nothing happened to the back. Went into a steep ditch and had to be towed out before I could even put the spare on. The tow truck driver didn't even charge, but I gave him some money anyways, he was very generous. Unfortunately the destroyed tire was one of my 3-month old brand new ones, but ended up getting a whole set of new tires and getting the last good one put on the spare. Cost of this accident was technically $350ish, and no affect on insurance. The officer didn't even take my info.
