HELP! I'm having a 360 problem! This will be the one and only place to post if you have a problem with your system or Live. Don't post here unless you have a problem or a fix.
Not sure if this has been asked before, and i just coudln't be arsed to look through over 290 pages. I get a feel that my 360 is nearing it's last leg, and i was wondering if there is a way to preserve my saves from various games somehow? I really don't wanna lose my ME2 saves so close to the release of ME3. Just plug in any USB storage device and save there?
your hard drive will be fine if the console dies. When hard drives die there is no warning except that you're playing, the system reboots and doesn't turn on again untill the HDD is out.
Wired connection is always better, if you are using wireless to connect to your xbox it could be your router's wireless signal strength, Losing connection just for a couple of seconds during the game can cause you to lagg badly, you can try placing your router closer to your xbox for the wireless strength, but wired is definetly better, if this doesn't fix it you could try getting a new router.
Thanks for the replies, but what if it is the HDD? It's been acting very weird lately, and i don't wanna just keep going until is dies. I just wanna keep my saves, if that's possible.
You are right: what if it is the HDD? The new style XBOXs do not ghave the same style HDD as the old ones, so this argument is moot.
The answer to your question is simple.
Get a USB drive which is bigger than 2GBs (preferably at least 8GB then you have lots of space to back up on to)
Make sure the USB drive has nothing else on it.
Plug the USB drive into the XBOX
Go to "System", "Storage" and you should see your USB pen there
Select it by pressing "A", your XBOX should then say it is going to format it (i.e. wipe everything off it) and test it
It will then take about 5 minutes, then it is done
You will now see it as an extra storage device on your XBOX
Now go to your XBOX HDD and find the things that you want to back up
Press "Y" and it should show a list of things that you can do to the file.
Select "copy" and the XBOX will then ask you where you want to co[py it to - select your USB pen, it shoujld then start copying it
Done

So my original Xbox 360 has decided to have the disc drive stop working properly. The warranty for it is no longer valid since I have had it for 4 years or so now. I had the open tray error so I opened the console and fixed the problem but after a couple of months the tray won't open now so I reopened it and cycled the tray so now it opens but the open tray error is back. HELP!!
Well I have gotten it to work. I just have to keep the casing off of it and the disc drive bottom off. Then I can pop the top cover of the disc drive off put in a game and use a glass candle lid to give it the proper weight to keep the disc from flying. Well I was about to shit a brick today, I logged on to my xbox to play Mass Effect 2 and I was greeted with a gamerscore of 0. I freaked, sure I don't have the most in the world but I was close to 30,000. So I went to go bitch to Microsoft and pulled up the support page which said: "Some customers are currently showing zero achievements and gamer scores on Xbox LIVE. We are aware of the problem and appreciate your patience while we implement a solution."
Just posting this in case some one else comes across this issue, hopefully it gets resolved soon.
I know it shouldn't have this reaction, but, when I saw this all I could feel was fear... It's sad but true. Amazing the hold achievements have on our lives.
Just wondering If anyone could help me out with what might have broken: I dropped my Xbox slim (I already know thats what broke it, thanks for pointing it out geniuses) and now when it powers on, it waits a couple seconds and then the power light itself, NOT the rings around it, they dont show up at all, but the power light itself turns red. Now, since my warranty is void and I dont got the cash to send it in, does anyone know what the problem could be? I am prepared to take it apart and do w/e I need to do, I had to fix the RROD on my last xbox, so I know what I'm doing
Wel not sure if someone posted this problem but has anyone experienced xbox siging you out of xbl at midnight and takes 5 mins to kick back in. Also in the party chat shows your friends name a numerous amount of times depending on how many people are in the party
I have E73 I heard that it is the ANA/HANA chip coming loose? If some one could confirm this for me? or if any of you know a good place to get mine fixed, or how I could fix it myself.
I didn't know where else to put this but I need some advice. I've had my xbox for 3 to 4 years and know it is starting to have trouble reading disc and the memory is almost full 9.9GB/120GB. Now I ask for your advice should I buy a new xbox?
Glad I could help eh.
Enjoy.

Yes once your xbox does give out... your hardrive will be fine within and you can just remove it and place it into your new xbox 360.

I Recommend Flash Voyager USB pens such as this one:

try taking out and putting back in your HDD
I already tryed that, and the HDD itself isnt the problem, it works fine in other xboxs, think place it plugs in got jarred out/broken?
does it run with no hard drive in it?
Nope, does the same thing, hard drive or not: Power light just blinks red, and nothing starts up on-screen
I'm sorry but it looks like you have a bad motherboard. You'll have to either contact Microsoft or replace it.
MS because it's covered under the warranty now.
mines up =/ I want a cheaper out side source.
