(BTW this is a Review on the remake of the Resident Evil for the PS1)
Resident Evil (A.K.A. REmake)
Memory: 8 Blocks
The Gameplay in REmake is similar to all of the past Resident Evil games, for those of you familiar with the past ones you can jump into this one easily, for Newcomers you'll get used to them fairly easy. Alright when you start a New Game you'll choose from Easy, or Normal which are cleverly diguised to confuse the crap out of you, anyways I'm probaly the only one who didn't understand WTH was going on, anyway after you chosen your difficulty you get your character each one has their perks and downers. Well, it's more like one either is easier to play through and the other is more challenging. The main characters are either Jill or Chris, Jill is the best one to start off for Newcomers to the series, mostly because she starts off with a Handgun, while Chris all he gets is a Knife.
After you choose your character you get the too see why Resident Evil games are awesome because of their Cutscene's, the opening Cutscene you will be informed that Bravo Team who was sent to investigate Murders in Racoon Forest have disappeared in the middle of their mission and you're sent to search for them, after you find their Helicopter in the middle of the forest, ok I'm done describing the games opening movie.
Once you get through the opening movie you'll find yourself in a Mansion, my main problem with the game is the fact that the Camera and controls can be annoying when your trying to do the simplest of tasks Dodging an enemy, or even trying to pick up items, and some of the puzzles require good timing with getting across somewhere without running into furniture, or a wall when you're running across a room.
Item management can be a problem you only get a certain amount of space and it can get annoying running back to an item box to store an item and run back to get the item you need. With those issues out of the way the Gameplay is fairly simple enough.
The Graphics like in most games are amazing character detail is great, when your hurt you'll grab your side and run slower than normal, and each enemy is well done detail wise a Zombie, or a Cebrus (Zombie Dog) will have blood all over their bodies, and chunks of bones showing, and as I said before Cutscene's are amazing, the character's being shown express their emotions to the environment around them and how it's changing, and they greatly describe the compelling story. Oh, and how could I forget the lighting how greatly each different area is so well lit that it adds greatly to the "creepy factor" of the game.
Right away I want to point out how great the music fit in with the game, making it more suspensful when you play it, also how great the the Sound effects are like each creature sounds different from another like a Cebrus dieing sounds like a monkey while a Zombie sounds like it having an orgasm. The music is uber Creepy, and fits in perfectly with the surroundings, and Cutscene's, while the voice-acting is so-so like most RE games.
RE games do great under this category but most once they know the story they won't wanna play this game again, there are extra costumes to be unlocked, and different modes you can play like: One tough Zombie where there'll be a Zombie that's extremely hard to kill that'll be following you through every door, and he's suicidal with Dynamite strapped to him so once he grabs you, you go BOOM, then there are extra weapon's for beating the game quickly like the samurai Edge which is a really powerful weapon, also different difficulty's, some may just wanna quit after they finished as I said before, but there is plenty to do, and you may or may not want to play again.
Overall the game is very fun, and challenging, a great remake by Capcom, and Capcom proves yet again they are the king's of survival-Horror there's a lot of interesting stuff here, the Story is really compelling, and the Graphics are very well done if you have an extra $20.00 pick this up, it's more than worth it.
(BTW yes, this is the review i sent you Adcense :P)
