SGC- ScrewAttack Gaming ConventionOn the July 4th weekend, ScrewAttack.com held their first convention at the Westin Hotel in Dallas/Fortworth Texas. Wow, what an awesome convention. This was my first con and it exceeded all my expectations and then some.
The whole con was packed with things to do, and I did as much of it as I could. I went to all the SA crew panels except for the AVGN's. After the debate there was a HUGE line that went all the way out to the one entrance to the hotel so there was no way I was going to get in. I actually didn't get to meet James at all which was probably the only disappointment of SGC. The Brentalfloss sing-a-long was fun. At one point, I can't remember which song, he ran down the isle and sang some parts to a couple g1s including me. Youtube Hell was also very funny and Mark did a very nice job putting it all together.
Keith was absolutely hilarious the whole convention. I heard he chucked fruit at people and saw him pick up girl and run away with her. I don't know what he was doing but as I was going up to my room one time I came to where the chairs were by the elevator and saw him talking to two old ladies putting his shirt back on. Who knows what he was doing but I hope it's part of one of the videos. He did so much other great stuff and I'm glad he's with ScrewAttack because SGC wouldn't have been the same without him.
I didn't really play a whole lot of games over the course of the con. For the console game room I played a couple of Brawl matches, one pathetic game of Halo 3, and an embarrassing match of Street Fighter 4 against Angel. In the Arcade room I mostly played Marvel vs Capcom 2 and few Street Fighter 3 matches. Out of all the MvC2 matches I played I only won one of them. There were a lot of skilled players and I get my ass handed to me, but it was fun.
I loved the random elevator conversations, going to Denny's with a few g1s, and all the other little things that made SGC awesome. All though I might have been a little shy at times and was a little star struck, it was great to meet all the g1s and SA crew. Especially "Anonymous", he was awesome. It was the most fun I've had in a long time and I can't wait to go to SGC 2010.
